Men’s Grooming Brands

Read “beauty industry” and most of us probably think of the women in our lives – from skincare to makeup, women have long had the jump on men when it comes to taking good care of themselves and showing themselves in their best light.

Lately though, this is changing. The men’s personal care industry is growing, according to Allied Media Research. They forecast a 5.5% growth per year over the next five years, with skincare seeing the biggest gain:

Clearly, the market is open to new ideas, and some innovative brands are taking men’s personal care to the next level.

1. Particle, Serious Anti-aging Skincare Made Simple

As we see from Allied Market Research data, men are spending more on skincare & grooming and making healthy skin a bigger priority; this trend is expected to continue for at least the next several years. Yet men’s skin is much different from women’s – it’s tougher and harder to penetrate, and faces stress from lack of sleep, poor diet, and exposure to sunlight and toxins that can age us prematurely. Men need skincare products designed specifically for these needs, yet it has to be simple. We might care more about our skin that ever, but that doesn’t mean we want to spend a ton of time on it.

Enter Particle, a six-in-one face cream scientifically formulated by biochemists to meet the exact needs of men’s skin. It helps reduce wrinkles, diminishes those dark circles and pesky bags under the eyes, soothes razor burn, and moisturizes and nourishes the skin. And it does it all with one product, in just a few minutes a day.

Does it work? According to verified buyer reviews on their site, it absolutely does. And it comes with a 30-day money-back guaranteed, so you’ve got nothing to lose.

2. Jack Black Beard Care Products

Beards made a major comeback several years ago, and they are still hugely popular. In fact, the popularity of beards is cutting into the razor industry, according to Kate Taylor in Business Insider.

There’s a catch, though. Most of us prefer a beard that’s well-shaped, groomed and cared for; unkempt beards look unprofessional and unsophisticated. That’s where Jack Black comes in.

The company offers a line of beard care products that includes beard shampoos (yes you should wash your beard, and no, regular shampoo doesn’t cut it), beard oil (nobody likes bristly whiskers), wax (if you really want to go with the structured look), and all the tools to shape and maintain that perfect look.

Like Particle, Jack Black products are designed to be simple to use, and highly effective. Their website has some great ideas on grooming, including tips on starting an effective beard care regimen. So, if you plan to skip the shave, do it with the right products and look fantastic.

3. All-natural Ursa Major Men’s Deodorant

When it comes to men’s deodorant, things haven’t fundamentally changed all that much in years. Yes, you can now pick from a wider range of scents, but they all typically contain a lot of harsh chemicals. And for men who wear cologne or aftershave, having a scented deodorant defeats the entire purpose.

This is where Ursa Major comes in, with a line of all-natural deodorants in both stick and spray form. It doesn’t contain any baking soda or aluminum, two ingredients that are increasingly coming under suspicion for being unhealthy.

You can buy it unscented, or choose one of their lightly scented versions. It’s a whole new approach to odor and wetness control.

4. Big Ass Brick Of Soap From Duke Cannon

When it’s time to shower, a lot of us still reach for whatever’s handy. While commercial soaps may get you clean, they can often be drying. And let’s be honest; we really aren’t all that into body washes and scrubbies.

That’s why the Big Ass Brick of Soap from Duke Cannon is so popular. It’s modeled after the “brick” style of soap the GIs used during the Korean War, and it’s about three times larger than a normal bar. Even better, they offer their big brick on a rope, so you can hang it and avoid the gross soap scum puddle on your shower shelf.

The company is rooted in military history, and they continue to look to the armed forces for their inspiration, getting ideas and input from soldiers stationed at Camp Ripley in Minnesota (near the family-owned plant). A portion of their proceeds goes to support veteran causes including the Honor Flight Network and The Military Working Dog Support Team Association.

As men are finally taking better care of their skin, brands like these are stepping up with simple, effective ways to make grooming better again. It’s great to see the market responding to the needs of men in an industry that has been too long dominated by products that weren’t quite right for our needs.
