Best Places To Visit In July

July marks the second half of the year and this is a great time to reinforce those new year’s resolutions that most likely fizzled out in March. If traveling’s on your bucket list, then now’s the moment to put in some leave and head out for a good mid-year break. You’ve earned it!

Before you book those plane ticket – just hold on.

While many regions are in the midst of eventful summers, other countries have their down jackets on and might not be ready for your touristy enthusiasm. This could put a damper on your holiday parade and you’ll miss out on the finer things the destination has to offer.

This simply means that you need to put a little forethought into your vacation planning. But not to worry, we’ve done the tedious research for you.

The following list brings you the best places to visit in July and gives you some great options to choose from. Who says you can’t start the second half of your year with a bang too?

1. Mexico, North America

Head to Mexico for sizzling temperatures and tantalizing food that comes with a bite. This “hot” spot has something for everyone, especially during the peak season (July). Enjoy basking on brilliant beaches, learn how to salsa or if you’re a history buff, you can pay a visit to the Mayan ruins and several museums. Festivals are also popular during this time of year with the Whale Shark festival being one of the bigger events.

2. Botswana, Africa

If you’re in the mood for a safari in Africa, then July is the perfect time to head on over to Botswana. Despite the fact that this country is in the midst of winter, you are more likely to spot the Big 5 hanging around the watering hole during this dry season. This region also doesn’t often experience freezing conditions and you can expect the temperatures to be well above 20° degrees on the coldest of days.

3. Alaska, USA

The warmer month of July makes some of Alaska’s remote areas more accessible and this means that you will be treated to breath-taking sights. Add the Katmai national park to your itinerary and you’re likely to have a 99% chance of spotting a grizzly bear on the hunt for some sockeye salmon.

4. Mongolia, Asia

Brace yourself for extreme temperatures (sometimes up to 45°C) and an unforgettable cultural experience. During this time of year, the people of Mongolia gather in the Gobi Desert to celebrate Naadam, a traditional festival that brings out the “man” in men. The proceedings include an eventful wrestling tournament between athletes clad in tiny, shiny pants – not to be missed!

5. Suffolk, UK

If you’re looking for a more relaxing holiday that includes a breath of fresh air, then a trip to the countryside might be ideal. Come July, Constable Country is the place to be if you want to take things slow. Paddle through tranquil scenes on a canoe tour or pull out the brushes and indulge in some paint therapy – drawing inspiration from the lush landscapes. Suffolk is lovely and serene during this time of year.

6. Ionian Islands, Europe

Greece’s Ionian islands come to life in the middle of the year and the archetypal paradise sets the scene for lazy summer days spent next to turquoise-ribboned shores. 7. Germany, Europe

One of the many things that Germany is popular for is its strong beer and during the summer month of July, the beer gardens come to life and are lit for vibrant evening festivals. But if beer’s not your things, there still so much to do and discover in this beautiful friendly country. Berlin is home to bustling flea markets where you can pick up some interesting pieces and the famous Disney castle is always a hit if you have kids.

8. Japan, Asia

Embark on a spiritual experience as crowds flock to Mt Fuji for the open trekking season. Here you can climb to the sacred peak of this majestic mountain – for some mid-year soul-searching, perhaps? Mingling with the locals is part of the adventure and you will soon grasp an appreciation for the Japanese culture.

9. Kangaroo Island, Australia

If you have a heart for adventure and have yet to explore down-under – then now’s the time! While July might not be Australia’s peak season, you’ll get to witness the newborn “roos” peaking out of their mother’s pouches without having to tackle your way through camera-snapping crowds. The chill in the air won’t vibrate summer vibes, but there’s enough to do to keep you in warms spirits.

10. Seychelles, East Africa

Scenic landscapes, national parks, and serene beaches are what make Seychelles one of the most heavenly places on earth. During July you will be treated to warm and sunny days that are perfect for basking near the crystal shores. This location “screams” relaxation but if you’re looking for more adventure, you can enjoy snorkeling in the reefs or you can explore one of the famous national parks.
