Vo-96 Acoustic Synthesizer

Love it or hate it, but Paul Vo’s Vo-96 Acoustic Synthesizer brings some serious transformative power to the classic acoustic guitar. Instead of simply picking up the string’s sound and then applying alterations, the Vo-96 physically controls and perpetuates string vibrations – on each individual string, as required – using finely targeted magnetic fields, modifying sound as set on the device without any actual digital processing (no speakers or amps required). While installation is a little more invasive than the visible interface would have you think, an experienced luthier shouldn’t have much trouble, and the optional optional built-in battery has the guitar remaining both as fully portable and independent as ever.

Finally, we don’t think any written description can do the system justice, so hit up Kickstarter and watch a video or two for the full effect – $1250 to $1450 [via]
