Best Indoor Outdoor Thermometers In 2022
At some point, we’ve all dressed wrong for the weather. You might have left the house with a coat on and the sun’s come out. Or, you’ve ventured out in a t-shirt, only for the heavens to open. Well, we’ve got the answer to that. The products on this buying guide can measure the temperature both inside and outside the house. Some of them can even show you things like humidity, moon phases, and the time. We’ve searched the internet to bring you the best indoor-outdoor thermometers. And, at the bottom of this article, we’ve answered some of your key questions about the products.
The Best Indoor Outdoor Thermometer
1La Crosse Technology WS-9160U-IT Indoor Outdoor Thermometer
The best indoor-outdoor thermometer on this list is the La Crosse Technology WS-9160U-IT Digital Thermometer. La Crosse Technology is a pretty well-known company in the weather-measurement industry, and this is one of their key products. There are a few reasons that it’s made the top place on our list. The first thing to mention is the technology underneath. It measures the indoor temperature using an accurate sensor, built into the machine, and the outdoor temperature is measured using a remote transmitter that you attach to a north-facing wall. Both of these sensors are really accurate and are relatively hard-wearing.
The second thing we like is the display. A lot of indoor-outdoor thermometers are overloaded with complicated features. Not this one. It displays the time, indoor temp, and outdoor temp – that’s it. So, at a glance, you can get all the information you need in large, easy-to-read digits.
And the last feature we were impressed by is the fact that it records the highest and lowest temperatures of the day. You’ll see a lot of these features on other indoor-outdoor thermometers. But we think this one is well-priced, reliable, and has everything you need. Make sure you also check our guide to the best smart thermostats.

2La Crosse Technology 308-1414B-INT 308-1414B Forecast Station
If money’s no issue, we think you should buy the La Crosse Technology 308-1414B-INT Forecast Station. It’s a little more expensive than the other weather stations on here, especially when it’s being sold at full price (it’s on offer at the minute), but it has a range of features are worth the extra money. For starters, the screen is the best we’ve seen on a wireless indoor outdoor thermometer. It’s a full-color LCD screen that is landscape instead of portrait – this might not seem like a big deal, but it means that the information is much easier to read at a glance.
Like the other La Crosse Technology weather stations, it’s got an animated display that gives you an indication of the weather outside. Of course, this isn’t the most accurate way to read the weather, but it makes the product look great. The clock is an atomic self-setting clock that gives you a perfectly accurate reading of the time, and it adjusts itself to Daylight Saving Time.
Without going into too much detail about the features and benefits of this weather station, we can sum up by saying it’s the best. If you are happy to pay a bit extra, this is the pinnacle of personal weather stations.

3AcuRite 00611 Indoor Outdoor Thermometer
The next product on our list is the AcuRite 00611 Indoor Outdoor Thermometer. It’s actually really similar in terms of features to our Best Choice product, but overall, we weren’t quite as impressed. Don’t let that put you off however, because it has a couple of benefits that might make it suited to your needs. It’s not quite as attractive as the La Crosse Technology WS-9160U-IT, opting for a more outdated white plastic exterior. That means it’s not going to look quite as impressive on your mantlepiece, but it’ll still do the job it’s meant for.
The most notable feature that sets it apart is the humidity monitor. In some climates, this can be just as important to know as the temperature, so we think it’s a pretty cool addition. Other than that, it uses pretty similar technology to other indoor-outdoor thermometers. It has a wireless outdoor transmitter and sends updates back to the digital display every 30 seconds, from a range of 165 feet.

Sensors are normally accurate.
Outdoor sensor isn’t always reliable.
Need to replace batteries regularly.
4La Crosse Technology S88907 Indoor Outdoor Thermometer
The La Crosse Technology S88907 is more than just your standard indoor-outdoor thermometer. It’s a full-blown personal weather station. It might cost a bit more than the standard thermometers, but this is the new era of this technology. The first indication that it’s more hi-tech is the screen. It has a color display that stands 10 inches tall, making it look more like an iPad than a thermometer. It shows the normal indoor and outdoor temperatures and humidity, as well as a digital clock and calendar, and even an animated display that tells you if the weather is sunny, partly sunny, cloudy, rainy, stormy, or snowy.
Underneath the hood, the technology is more advanced as well. It has a barometer that calibrates over a period of three to four weeks – then, it can provide you with your own personal short-term weather forecast. Add this to the accurate temperature and humidity sensors, and you’ve got a pretty comprehensive weather station. The super-accurate atomic clock is another really cool feature we’re excited about on this product. You may also like to check our guide to the best infrared thermometers.

The atomic clock is amazingly accurate.

Difficult to read at night.
5Ambient Weather WS-10 Indoor Outdoor Thermometer
The Ambient Weather WS-10 stands alone in this list. When you first take a look at it, it looks like the display is over-complicated, but actually, it’s because it displays three outdoor readings at once. A lot of the indoor-outdoor thermometers on this list can support multiple wireless sensors, but none of them can display them all at once. This one can support up to eight, and displays three at once, as well as your indoor temperature. You might be asking yourself, why that’s important. To some people, it might be useless. But to others, being able to read multiple temps is crucial. For example, someone who keeps animals might need to know the temperatures in multiple outdoor shed or barns.
You can also set an alarm on this thermometer to let you know if the temperature hits a certain point. This is another really important feature if you’re looking after animals. It’s not the most attractive or impressive product, but it’s definitely one of the best indoor outdoor thermometers for people that keep animals or crops.

The transmission is weak if there’s a lot in the way.
6AcuRite 02007 Digital Home Weather Station
Next up is the AcuRite 02007. It’s another digital weather system that is designed to provide you more information about the conditions both inside and outside of your home. It’s actually pretty similar to the La Crosse Technology weather systems, but it has a slightly different way of displaying the information. In our opinion, it’s not quite as easy-to-read. There’s a lot of information on the screen and a lot of the digits are the same size, so you really have to know what you’re looking for. We’d have preferred the main information (outside temperature, inside temperature, etc) to be displayed a little more prominently, but you might find that it makes sense.
Like the other digital weather stations in this list, it has a built-in barometer to measure the air pressure. That allows it to provide 4-hour, 4- to 8-hour, and 8- to -12-hour forecasts. The technology used in this product is patent-pending, so you can only get it in AcuRite thermometers. This smart home device also got plenty of other useful features including an Intellect-Time clock that automatically updates for Daylight Saving Time, and a wall-mount, so you can keep your weather station out of the way.

Attractive display once you understand the data.
The sensors are powerful.
Easy to wall-mount.
Information isn’t as clearly laid out.
Some reports of the clock being inaccurate.
7AcuRite 00782A2 Wireless Indoor Outdoor Thermometer
The next two indoor-outdoor thermometers on our list are at the cheaper end of the scale. The first one is the AcuRite 00782A2 Thermometer. Like the Ambient Weather WS-04-WHITE, it’s super simple. It has an easy-to-read display LCD display that just shows you the indoor temperature and the temperature outside. It doesn’t have a humidity sensor or any other fancy features, so it’s easy to see at a glance what the temperature is. If we had one complaint about this thermometer is that it’s a little small. This isn’t a problem for most people, but if you have problems with your sight, you might have a tough time reading the temperature.
On the plus side, it has plenty of mounting options. It’s got a fold-down stand if you want to keep it on a table or countertop. And, it has keyholes built into both units, if you want to hang it up on the wall. There’s not much else to say about this indoor-outdoor thermometer – it’s simple and it works. Very simple and easy-to-understand.

Easy to mount on the wall.
Display could be too small for some people.
It could break after a year or two of use.
8Taylor Precision Products Indoor Outdoor Thermometer
The final product on our list is the Best Value. The Taylor Precision Products Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer is amazingly good value at less than $10. The reason we picked it over the last product (even though they are very similarly priced) is that it has an impressive LCD display. It’s considerably bigger than the AcuRite 00782A2 Thermometer’s display and the outdoor temperature is much bigger than the indoor temperature. This feature really makes sense to us, because most people are going to be more interested in the temperature outside.
Another thing we like about this thermometer is the fact that they’ve included a clock. It’s tucked away in the corner, but it’s a nice addition. It has a pull-out stand and it’s small and thin enough to keep pretty much anywhere, but there’s no mention of a wall-mount. For the price, we think that the 200ft transmission range is impressive, but we’re not sure that it will last that long. That tends to be the problem with these cheaper thermometers – the outside sensors aren’t really built to be outside. However, if you can place it under shelter, it should be fine.
Wireless
Small LCD display
Transmission range – 200 ft
OUT temp range: -40ºF to +140ºF (-40ºC to 60ºC)
IN temp range: 32ºF to 122ºF (0ºC to 50ºC)
- BrandTaylor Precision Products
- Model1730
- Weight4.8 Ounces
Simple and easy-to-understand.
No calibration required.
LCD display is impressive for the price.
It could break after a year or two of use.

Features To Look For In Indoor Outdoor Thermometers
Indoor/Outdoor Temperature – This should go without saying really. This is the primary feature of an indoor-outdoor thermometer, so it’s pretty important. If it doesn’t show both the indoor and outdoor temperature, it’s not an indoor-outdoor thermometer.
Clock – Because of the display, it’s sometimes useful to have a clock on your indoor-outdoor thermometer. Then, you can check the time every time you walk past your thermometer.
Readability Of The Display – The best indoor outdoor thermometers should be easy to read from a distance. To do this, they need to have a backlit display that can be read in the dark. On cheaper models, the display is often not as high-quality, so you might have to get a bit closer to read it.
Wireless Or Wired Display – This is a personal preference really. Wireless displays are more convenient, but you have to replace the batteries when they run out.
High/Low Daily Temperatures – This feature means that your thermometer will measure the highest and lowest daily temperatures.
Temperature/Forecast Prediction – Some of the more advanced indoor-outdoor thermometers can predict the weather and temperature. This makes it more than just a thermometer.
Temperature Range – Some indoor-outdoor thermometers are limited within a temperature range. That means they aren’t useful in places that are prone to extreme temperatures.
Barometric Pressure – The barometric pressure can have a huge effect on the weather. So, if you fancy yourself as a bit of a scientist, you can predict the weather yourself.
Indoor Outdoor Thermometer FAQ
Q: What is an indoor outdoor thermometer?

Q: How do I know if my thermometer is accurate?
