 Why You Should Try Paddle Boarding

If you’re less concerned with action sports and would instead get out on the water for a relaxing activity, paddle boarding is perfect for you to try out. As it’s grown in popularity over the years, paddle boarding is taking the world by storm, and we can see why!

While it might look pretty tricky, it’s actually far easier than you might first think. Furthermore, it won’t cost you a fortune to get hold of the equipment you’ll need. With that said, before you go out and buy a stand-up paddleboard, it might be a good idea to hire one. Although we think paddle boarding is excellent, some people may beg to differ.

In the meantime, we’re here to convince you to at least try it out. Here are 10 reasons for you to take to the water and give it a go.

1. It’s Really Relaxing Once You Get The Hang Of It

Sure, when you’re first getting started, the fear of falling in and getting to grips with paddle boarding isn’t exactly relaxing. However, once you master it (which won’t take long), it’s actually very relaxing. Daily life can get stressful, heading out on your paddleboard is the perfect form of downtime. It’s peaceful, it’s relaxing, and it’s a great escape from the crazy world that we live in.

2. It’s A Great Form Of Exercise

While paddle boarding might not burn as many calories as going out for a run or hitting the gym, it’s certainly a good form of exercise. It’s the kind of activity that’s so enjoyable, you’ll forget that it’s exercise at all. Paddle boarding is great for your balance, core strength and building the muscles in your arms and legs. What more could you ask for?

3. It Won’t Break The Bank

As we touched on before, paddle boarding won’t cost you the earth. All you need is a board and a paddle, no fancy equipment is required. You can pick up a decent board for a couple of hundred dollars. If paddle boarding is something you’ll do regularly, it’s a great investment!

4. It Gets You Outdoors

If you want to be a one with nature, paddle boarding is a great way to do so. There’s something seriously soothing about being outdoors. Seriously, what could be better than gliding along the open water as you’re alone with your thoughts?

If you’re heading out paddle boarding in a group, it’s sure to be good fun. Though its enjoyable alone, with a group you’re sure to enjoy some laughs. If you’re taking on the sea, someone is sure to fall in. So, round up the troops and give it a go! If you get nothing but some amusement out if, it’s worth a try!

6. It’s Not Too Much Of A Challenge

The trickiest part of stand-up paddle boarding is actually standing up. Once you’ve mastered that, you’ll be away. Paddleboarding is an activity that won’t require hours of training and frustrating. With a little patience, it won’t take you too long at all to be gliding through the water.

7. It Will Encourage You To Visit New Places

If you give paddleboarding a go and you’ve fallen in love with it, you’ll be itching to get out and explore new places. Whether you decide to go on a road trip to soak up serene waterways or you fancy taking on the waves in Cali’, paddle boarding will get you outdoors.

8. It’s Not Limited To The Sea

Contrary to popular believe, you don’t need to live along the coast to take up paddle boarding. You can take to inland waterways too. Plus, if you’re a beginner, the lack of waves which actually make it much easier to master the sport. As long as there’s water nearby, there’s no need to rule out paddle boarding.

9. It’s One Of The World’s Fastest-Growing Water Sports

There’s a decent community that is enthusiastic about paddle boarding, so, if you’re looking for a new hobby that will keep you busy and encourage you to meet new people, it’s a great choice. If you get on board now, not only will you have a brilliant time, but you’ll become part of a whole new craze that is taking the world by storm.

10. It’s Easily Adaptable

Although typically paddle boarding is a calm, slow-paced activity it can be adapted. If you’re in search of an adrenaline rush, you don’t necessarily have to discount paddle boarding. Once you’ve mastered your board and built some confidence, you can mix things up. If you think white-water rafting is good fun, wait until you’ve tried it on a stand-up paddleboard.
