Do you ever wonder what’s going on at home after you step out the door? Maybe you want to keep tabs on the shenanigans your pets keep getting into, or maybe you’re concerned that someone is just itching to get into your home as soon as you pull out of the driveway. You could spend thousands on a security system, stationary cameras, or even booby traps to keep tabs on your castle, or you can enlist Pilot Labs’ Moorebot Scout, a compact, AI automated robot built to patrol your premises 24/7.

Moorebot Scout: The Basics

The Scout is Moorebot’s third-generation robot. It comes loaded down with a full HD 1080p security camera, two-way audio with a microphone and speaker, intelligent navigation, artificial intelligence-based human and pet recognition, infrared, night vision, and hazard detection.

You can set up the Moorebot Scout autonomously or via manual controls, to patrol your home, day or night; rain or shine.

Specs

The bot connects to a cell phone via Wifi or Bluetooth, so you can tap into the Moorebot Scout from anywhere to get a first-person view inside your home. Designers managed to compress the Scout’s package to 2.8 inches x 4 inches x 4.3 inches, so it will easily fit in the palm of a hand and is a perfect tool to get eyes in hard-to-reach places or under furniture.

It also comes with the following features:

  • Auto-charging
  • Four-wheel drive
  • Cloud video clip storage

The Scout can stay on patrol for about 2.5 hours and fully charges in around 3 hours. It is able to locate its own charging port and connect, so you don’t have to worry about keeping it charged.

How Much?

The Scout launched on Kickstarter in March 2021 and is on track for mass production in May, followed by June shipping. The robot goes for an MSRP of $149. It also comes in packages of two for $279 or three for $409. The robot has gained 6,000 backers and raised just over $1 million toward production.

The Moorebot Scout promises to be an ideal companion for AI aficionados, security buffs, and robotics fans alike. It pledges to be the tiny buddy that will help you keep your eyes on your pets, children, and belongings anytime, from anywhere.
