It is safe to say the tent that can hold its own against the Icelandic weather will do for just about any outdoor adventure. The durable and reliable Cave XL 4-Season Tent is exactly that: a strong and weatherproof shelter from the elements.

This all-season waterproof tent is the product of a collaboration between Icelandic outerwear brand 66°North and German camping gear innovator HEIMPLANET. The two brands were brought together by Benjamin Hardman, the Icelandic nature photographer who has spent years using both 66°North garments and HEIMPLANET inflatable tents to protect himself from harsh weather conditions in Iceland. Out there, your tent is your home and the only place of comfort. The Cave XL has been purpose-built for those conditions.

66°North HEIMPLANET Cave XL 4-Season Tent Features

  • Inflatable framework
  • Reinforced structure
  • Weatherproof material
  • Ground area: 5 sqm / 54 SQFT
  • Height: 127cm / 50 inch
  • Weight: 4,8kg / 10.6 lbs

The tent combines Heimplanet’s technology with 66°North’s design. It features a geodesic dome structure similar to the Heimplanet Cave tent that adventurists and nature lovers are already familiar with.

The tent comes in a bright orange color inspired by the color of Islands’ traditional emergency shelters. There is some storage room inside the walls, enough space at the entrance for boots and utilities, and a gear loft on the roof.

This rugged tent goes up in under one minute thanks to the super-quick inflation valve system. It is weatherproof, durable, and spacious enough for two or three people and their gear.

While the inner layer is made from flexible thermoplastic polyurethane, the outer layer is made from extra-stiff polyester, so the tent promises to keep you safe and comfortable from harsh weather conditions all-year round.

The Buy

With a price of $1,199.00, the 66°North HEIMPLANET Cave XL 4-Season Tent is on the expensive side but does seem worth it. The tent comes with pegs, guy ropes, packsack, pump adapter, and a repair kit. There are two types of pumps available, a double-action floor pump and a mini pump, and they are bought separately.
