Arcimoto, the renowned electric vehicle company, has very recently opened a new manufacturing facility in Eugene, Oregon. On 2.22.22. they announced an innovative three-wheel-drive electric leaning trike they are calling the Mean Lean Machine that is going to be built at the new facility.

This not-so-ordinary electric tricycle has been designed with sustainability in mind and it uses Arcimoto’s patented technology so it will be able to lean into turns like a regular e-bike, but with better traction and stability.

Arcimoto E-Trike Features

  • Carries 1 or 2 people
  • Three-wheel direct drive
  • Patented tilting technology
  • 200+ miles range (with auxiliary batteries)
  • Pedal generator for speed control and stationary recharge
  • Weight: over 9,000 pounds

The company promises a range of over 200 miles, with auxiliary batteries, which sounds quite impressive. we must say. The trike can also carry up to two passengers.

There is still not a lot of information available about this new model. Arcimoto does promise a riding experience unlike any other in the e-bike category. Arcimoto’s Bob Mighell, who is the person behind this cutting-edge three-wheel tilting technology, claims that the Mean Lean Machine will be able to corner the same way as any standard bike, but that it will offer greater traction, more stability, and better braking ability.

Three-wheeled e-trikes are more stable than two-wheeled e-bikes but the only problem is that when cornering hard, they lose stability. Arcimoto seems to have successfully overcome this problem, judging from the prototype’s launch video.

This first-of-its-kind e-trike boasts three hub motors and a pedal generator for speed control and stationary recharge, so there is no chain, no belt, and no grease, which should make it super convenient overall. Because there is a hub motor in each wheel, the machine promises outstanding handling and traction.

The Buy

We will have to wait to find out more details—specifications, features, accessories and regular price included. But you can reserve your Arcimoto E-Trike today for a fully refundable $100.
