Imagine being an extreme athlete, doing your job really well, and all you're missing out on is just the perfect clock? That was the case with Chad DiNenna, the founder of the Nixon brand. Since his childhood, he surfed and snowboarded, later working in the action sports industry. In short, he spent almost every minute privately and professionally on or near the boards.
For several years he looked and tried, and found no clock that suited him, and his active lifestyle. When he then discussed the topic with friends and colleagues, he realized he had encountered an important gap. There was no clock around, which suited surfers, longboarders, skateboarders, and snowboarders. No clock reflected the carefree Californian-casual lifestyle and no clock that would meet the requirements of surfing.
Chad DiNenna saw it a little differently. He quickly grabbed Andy Laats, a gifted engineer who developed boards for one of the best snowboard manufacturers. The two complemented each other splendidly and that was when the brand Nixon was born. Till date, the brand remains true to the roots - from the beginning accompanied by a dynamic surf, skate and winter sports team.
Initially, Nixon watches were only sold in small, independent surf, skate and snow stores. Soon, however, the greater public discovered the new designs and the casual styles, and soon after, Nixon developed into a global and acclaimed watchmaker.
Nixon continues to be true to its origins and develops watches for the boarding community.
