Vital Statistics

  • 3 separate conditioning modes; air conditioning, fan only and dehumidifier.
  • 10,000 BTUs of cooling power.
  • Dehumidifier can remove 76 pints per day from the air.
  • Will cool any room up to 350 square feet.
  • Auto-evaporative technology means no emptying the pan.

This is a fairly large portable air conditioner but it also sports an impressive 10,000 BTUs of cooling power; equivalent to some of the largest window units. For a large unit it’s surprisingly easy to move around though and the sleek design means it doesn’t call too much attention to itself and won’t upset the balance of your contemporary decor. While DeLonghi isn’t necessarily a household name you shouldn’t let that detract from the overall quality on display here.

Pros

  • Powerful dehumidifier – Sometimes you don’t need to cool down the air you just need to remove the moisture. Not all portable air conditioners will have a dedicated dehumidifier mode; the PACC100E does. Not only that but it’s a robust dehumidifier capable of removing 76 pints of moisture from a room in a single day. A definite advantage this unit has over more than half of the other portable ACs on the market today.
  • Easy setup/Effortless mobility – The unit is ready to go right out of the box and, as is the case with most other portable air conditioners in this class, it comes with a window ventilation kit that’s easy to use and easy to move from room to room. The unit itself is well-balanced so it’s not a chore to push it around. But it is big enough that you’re going to want some help getting it up and down the stairs.
  • 10,000 BTUs – This unit is no wallflower. The 10,000 BTUs allows it to get out in front of the hot air and tame it in a hurry. We suspect you might be able to use it on a slightly larger room than the 350 square feet it’s rated for because it handles that sized room so handily.

Cons

  • Lack of heating option – It’s hard to find fault with this unit so we’re digging pretty deep here but the lack of a heating option is one potential drawback. For us, when we see a unit that offers a dehumidifier option along with the standard AC option we kind of expect it will offer heating mode as well. The fact that this one doesn’t was a mild disappointment, but we got over it pretty quick.
