Vollebak The Indestructible Puffer
Almost everyone loves a stylish and comfortable puffer jacket. However, it is not the kind of jacket that you can expect to protect you from the harshest weather conditions. Vollebak recognizes this and sets out to reinvent the puffer jacket. The result is the Vollebak Indestructible Puffer.
Vollebak retained the soft downy padding of the puffer. What it reinvented is the traditional shell. Instead of polyester or nylon, Vollebak deemed it better to use Dyneema. This is a fiber that is about 15 times stronger than steel. It is the same kind of fiber used in mooring systems, body armor, oil rig ropes, and anti-ballistic vehicle armor. The remarkable strength of the Dyneema is now in the Indestructible Puffer.
While this Vollebak jacket is not going to stop a bullet, it can protect you from the harshest weather conditions. The company designed the jacket to withstand below-freezing temperatures of minus-40 degrees Fahrenheit. The strength of the Dyneema fabric also helps protect the jacket from abrasions and rips.
Inside the bulletproof shell is a 27-ounce fill with a fill power of 600+. It adds to the protection afforded by the ballistic outer coat by keeping you warm in freezing conditions. Vollebak recycled PET bottles to augment the jacket’s thermal insulation. The only downside to the Indestructible Puffer is that it weighs about 5.5 pounds. This is not surprising given the nature of the fiber used in its design.
The Indestructible Puffer also comes with a few neat features. There are 2 invisible pockets on the chest panel, plus 2 fleece-lined pockets on the sides. There is also a pair of pockets on the inside surface of the jacket.
The Vollebak Indestructible Puffer is a winter jacket like no other. It has got to be the toughest jacket you can ever wear in the harshest weather condition.
