Vespa 946 Christian Dior
A more classic, European collaboration would be hard to imagine – mixing the iconic lines and sound of the Vespa scooter with the haute couture of Christian Dior. Both historic brands shared a birthday in 1946. Dior of France and Vespa of Italy have combined their efforts to create a piece of motoring history sure to please even the pickiest of Parisians. Best of all, the kit comes with accessories, a top case and motorcycle helmet adorning the design produced by Marc Lohan in 1967 will round out your motoring kit in perfect fashion.
This new Vespa model has been designed and styled entirely by Maria Grazia Chiuri, who is Dior’s Creative Director for their women’s collections. Each piece of the scooter will be hand-crafted in Italy, adhering to the exacting standards of even the most elegant couture atelier. And unlike the highest of French fashion, this Vespa 946 Christian Dior will give you a ride around town.
The 946 Vespa was launched back in 2012 at Milan’s world-famous EICMA motorcycle show. Since then, the bike has been a favorite of motorists for not only its beautiful stylings but its excellent engineering. The 946 features a 125cc three-valve motor, and elegantly straddles the line of past and future engineering when it comes to scooter technology. The unibody frame, composed of aluminum combined with a high-performance rear shock, makes the ride as flawless as its Dior stylings.
This limited-edition model comes with an exclusive colorway that has been fashioned by Dior and Vespa together. To match the quality of the fabric adorning the bike and the hardware, the designers added gold accents in numerous locations to add a touch of elegance. The saddle of the scooter features a blue-leather color and boasts the classic Dior monogram, utilizing original Dior fabric for the upholstery.
Speaking of the saddle, a top case sits on the rear of the machine, fixing directly to the luggage rack. This case is perfect for a picnic or a ride to work. The top case features the iconic design of Dior’s March Lohan, who crafted this look in 1967, and it remains timeless even fifty years on. The motorcycle helmet of the same design rounds out the accessory range for the bike.
This limited edition Vespa launches in the spring of 2021. All accessories will be available in Dior boutiques, and the bikes will be available in Plagio Groups Motoplex stores.
The 946 Vespa has always been an exclusive model and ridden by the most passionate Vespa aficionados. Now, with the association of Dior, this is likely to be a hard model to get your hands on. The price has yet to be confirmed.
