Drink More Water
Water is essential to our being. It helps our bodies to function and if we drink enough, it can assist with maintaining weight, it can build strength and stamina, and it can also keep our mental health in check. Consuming a doctor’s recommended intake of water is not always that easy, however. We either forget to drink our H2o or we replace it with tastier beverages.
But if you are on a mission to increase your water consumption, we’re here to support you! Here are our 20 steps that we think will encourage you to drink more of the world’s healthiest liquid.
1. Add A Touch Of Flavour
Infused water is not only delicious, it’s a healthy alternative to making a bland drink more flavourful. Slicing fruit, vegetables, and even herbs and then adding it to a jug of water will allow the natural flavors to seep into the liquid – enticing you into a delectable beverage.
2. Use An App To Track Your Intake

4. Invest In A Filter
You have three options here. You can invest in a built-in water filtration system, you can purchase a water-filter jug or you if you are often on the go, then you will probably find filtered water bottles to be the most convenient solution. Knowing that you are drinking purified water might persuade you to keep sipping.
5. Eat Water-Loaded Foods
If you simply cannot bear swallowing more liquid than you have to, then an alternative is to “eat” your intake of water. Yup – we said eat. You can stay hydrated by snacking on foods that include high water content, like cucumber, lettuce, melon, and celery.
6. Snack On Salty Stuff
Salt makes you thirsty and the thirstier you are, the more you will crave water. When it comes to sodium you don’t want to go overboard, however, as this could have other health implications. But some salted nuts, beef jerky, and pretzels will always go down well!
7. Drink Herbal Tea

9. Set An Alarm
If you’re not the type who always just “feels” thirsty, then you might need a little help from the outside. Setting an alarm on your phone that goes off at certain intervals during the day will remind you to drink a glass or two of water as the alert sounds.
10. Drink A Glass Of Water As You Wake Up
Make drinking a glass of water the first thing you do as you wake up each morning. While this might be hard to get used to at first, it will eventually become a habit and a good one at that.

You don’t have to stick to drab old tap water. You might find that your interest in H2o will peak if you spice things up a bit and try flavored mineral waters – or add a touch of sparkle to your day with carbonated versions.
13. Make A Water Wager With Your Friends
Sometimes we just need a little competition to steer us in the right direction. Make a challenge or a bet with your friends where you agree to drink a certain amount of water in an agreed-on period of time. If you win, you get whatever’s on the table.
14. Eat Ice Lollies
Summer days call for crisp ice lollies. Infused water, herbal teas or diluted fruit juices make delicious snacks when frozen. In fact, this is an excellent way to make water more of a treat than just a chore!
15. Drink Water During Bathroom Breaks
This is another trick that you could eventually make a habit. After you have taken a bathroom break, down a glass or two of water. So, when nature calls, so too does an ice-cold glass of aqua!
16. Drink Hot Water At Night

18. Try The Watercooler Challenge
If you work in an office block where a watercooler comes standard, then challenge yourself to stop and down a glass of water every time you walk past it. You can do the same when you walk past a cooler in other locations too.
19. Set Yourself Rules
You are the only one who can dictate when, where, and how much water you consume in a day. We recommend that you give yourself a good talking to and lay down the law. For instance, you’re only allowed dessert if you drink a glass of water beforehand or you can only leave the office once you have an empty water bottle.
20. Reward Yourself When You Reach A Goal
Last but not least, reward yourself. For some, drinking water comes naturally but for others, it really is a solid goal that needs to be attained with dedication and effort. So, if you meet your required intake, treat yourself to something special!
