Seiko SBDB033 Gundam RX-78-2 Limited Edition Watch
In April of 1979, Japan aired the very first episode of Mobile Suit Gundam. The series underwent several theatrical releases, making it one of the most recognizable robot heroes today. Fast forward 4 decades and Japanese watchmaker, Seiko, is paying homage to a global icon. The SBDB033 Gundam RX-78-2 is a limited edition wristwatch that draws inspiration from the original Gundam Mobile Suit of 1979.
This Seiko watch comes with the very same colorway of the 1979 Gundam RX-78-2. There are also stampings of the Earth Federation Army on the watch’s dial. There is also a “Head Sensor” at the 12 o’clock bezel marking. These are very small yet important details that can make anyone who wears the SBDB033 proud.
Featuring a Caliber 5R66 movement, the Limited Edition Gundam RX-78-2 wristwatch provides precision timekeeping. It has a 72-hour power reserve, making sure you get accurate times all the time. The watch also comes with its own display for the power reserve. It helps you stay abreast of the power supply of your SBDB033.
Seiko engineers designed the SBDB033 to retain its accuracy to within 15 seconds every month. There is no need to recalibrate the clock mechanism every time you put the watch on your wrist. Both the casing and the strap come with an anti-allergy coating, too. You also have a choice between a crocodile strap and a stainless steel bracket. Neither material will irritate your skin.
While the Gundam RX-78-2 is phenomenal in battling Zeon Mobile Suits in outer space, the Seiko rendition fares well in underwater environments, too. It is not a dive watch, though, regardless of its 10-Bar waterproofing characteristics.
The Seiko SBDB033 Gundam RX-78-2 Limited Edition Watch is for the avid fan of the Gundam series. You’ve got to hurry, though, as there are only 300 of these to be sold around the world.
