Microsoft Surface Laptop
Microsoft’s Surface Book is an impressive little machine. The Microsoft Surface Laptop is as well, only without the detachable tablet bit — and with a price tag that’s significantly friendlier. Uniquely, lifting the laptop’s display shows off the hydrophobic Alcantara fabric-covered surface around the keyboard and trackpad, which is warmer than the aluminum covering the rest of the computer while also concealing Omnisonic Speakers beneath the keys. It’s also extremely light at 2.76 pounds, boasts a Corning Gorilla Glass 3-covered 13.5-inch touchscreen that’s difficult to scratch even if you’re trying, and all-day battery life that promises to last up to 14 or so hours. The catch is it’s running a simpler, streamlined version of Windows 10 dubbed 10 S which only runs apps straight from the Windows Store, but on the flip side it’s both much more secure and much faster than the Core i5 and 4GB of RAM of the base model would have you think.
