LUFT Duo – Pure and Simple
Occasionally, the air quality surrounding you is so bad you can see the pollution with the naked eye. Wildfires, fireworks, and dense smog all create air conditions that you’re certain you want nothing to do with. But even when the air appears clear, the Air Quality Index (AQI) can be at dangerous levels. For this reason, Air purifiers are an increasingly common household item. Those with allergies or high-risk populations have even turned to personal purifiers that can travel with them.
LUFTQI is a Taiwanese company that is hoping to improve affordability and portability in air purifiers. LUFT Duo is their first attempt to solve your air pollution problem.
Understanding Air Pollution
Air pollution comes in many forms. Combustion engines, forest fires, volcanos, it’s all making the air we breathe a little less clean. Air pollution comes in five primary forms: carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, ozone, particulate matter, and lead. In addition to these types of pollutants, pet dander and pollen from blooming plants can fill your house with irritants. All of these airborne elements make it very challenging for you to feel your best.
How LUFT Duo Works
Most HEPA filters integrate a pre-screen, two HEPA filters, and then an activated carbon final layer. This process blocks out many harmful airborne elements, but plenty of junk still sneaks through. The LUFT Duo integrates five layers of filtration for a far better net reduction of pollution.
The Duo’s first layer is a metal mesh screen that works to capture large dust particles and weed out things like bugs. The second layer of filtration features a static ion sheet that works to filter out debris at the PM2.5 level or bigger. In laymen’s terms, PM2.5 is around the size of a dust mite and bigger. Once the air has passed the static ion sheet, it encounters small magnetic fans that speed the air up and blast it into the final two filtration layers.
The final layer of the Duo’s filter gauntlet features two photocatalytic solid-state purification filters. These super-fine strainers essentially break up pollution particles into smaller pieces, effectively rendering them harmless or drastically reduced their potential to cause harm.
Is It For You?
The LUFT Duo is good for 240 square feet of air cleaning goodness. While that might only be the size of a big closet, if you keep the device near you, you can be confident you’re maintaining some of the benefits without the expensive task of filtering all of the air in a room.
For the low price of $149, you can get your hands on a single LUFT DUO if you act fast. The Indiegogo comes to a close in just a few short days!
