Jordan Proto-Max 720
His Airness soars again with the most advanced Nike Air technology to date. Fused to the design language that has become the signature tongue of Jordan, the new Jordan Proto-Max 720 offers a silhouette that is characteristic of any Air Jordan but with a 21st century feel.
With the Jumpman branding strapped at the back of the heel in bold, yet very refined lettering, the Proto-Max 720 speaks of one’s desire to leave the comfort, stability, and security of the ground. The now-iconic Wings logo, mimicking the inherent need of man to fly and soar above the clouds, also appears on the 720’s tab strap in a magical striped silhouette.
Of course, what’s a Jordan if it doesn’t come with the Air Max cushioning unit? After all, this is what Nike sneakers are known for. That’s the function of the 720. But what really gives the Proto-Max its superb weight characteristics and airness is the moon-boot outsole that is so rugged yet ingeniously designed to help give you the kind of space flight aesthetic that you may have been yearning for in a footwear. And while this is not going to send you to the Moon or even Mars, at the very least, stepping with it is surely a giant step for sneaker lovers everywhere.
The upper is made of super lightweight, extra-flexible synthetic material that envelops the feet more like the footwear of astronauts in space. The heel tabs and tongue are also adorned with Flight Utility graphics. Too bad there are no indications of NASA or even the European Space Agency on any of the elements of the Proto-Max 720.
The simple red and black thematic design of the Proto-Max 720 may be a departure from the often loud styling of other Nikes, but it sure is a welcome idea for those who want it perfectly simple.
