Il Fascino Ferrari
From the racetracks to the world’s most iconic roads, very few automotive brands can command the same level of respect and admiration as Scuderia Ferrari. The brand with its characteristic Ferrari red has become the benchmark of many automobile makers, some clearly trying to outdo the prancing horse while others simply want to follow in the red stallion’s lead. Just what makes the brand so iconic is now immortalized in the Taschen II Fascino Ferrari, a full 514 pages of the illustrious history of the prancing horse and encapsulated in an equally-elegant aluminum display case.
Pino Allievi edited hundreds of documents that authoritative figures from the Scuderia have ever written throughout the years including its famed racecar drivers. It offers a very rare glimpse into the highly exclusive world of the prancing horse, complete with never-before-seen sketches, drawings, and even photographs of the various machines that have been conceptualized in Enzo Ferrari’s halls. It’s the untold story of the winningest franchise in Formula 1 as well as its stellar performance in GT circuits.
The Fascino Ferrari only comes in 1,947 copies, alluding to the brand’s foundation in 1947. The first 250 in the limited edition series actually comes as an art form, complete with a masterfully-crafted bookstand sculpted by Marc Newson, duly-signed by Enzo Ferrari’s son Pierro, the brand’s Chairman and SEO Sergio Marchionne, and Exor CEO John Elkann. The sculpture is inspired by the V12 engine that gives many prancing horses their characteristic roar every time they hit the streets, complete with a hand-bent and fully-flared steel brush in chrome.
Needless to say, the Fascino Ferrari pays homage to the stable’s proud history, a testament to its pioneering spirit and indefatigable desire to push the boundaries of automotive innovation, class, and style. It simply is a collector’s dream item one should never miss.
