Harley Davidson LiveWire Electric Motorbike
While it is still scheduled to be released in August of 2019, Harley-Davidson’s Livewire is already creating a lot of buzz. But this is quite understandable. After all, this is a Harley-Davidson that never fails to turn heads every time they hear the characteristic rumble of its engine.
But the Livewire is surprisingly quiet. Teasers about the superbike say that the only sound that riders of the Livewire will hear is their heart racing. The secret is in the powertrain of the Livewire. Instead of using the conventional V-twin motor, Harley-Davidson is finally jumping into the electric motor bandwagon with the H-D Revelation.
It’s an electric motor with a permanent magnet, ensuring the delivery of 100% of its rated torque in an instant. This is the reason why Livewire is fully capable of accelerating to 60 MPH in less than 3.5 seconds. That’s even faster than the 2018 Porsche 718 Boxter GTS Roadster’s acceleration at 4.6 seconds. There are no gears that you have to run through or even clutch to release. With a simple flick of the wrist, the Livewire can immediately burn the asphalt.
Given that the Livewire runs on electricity, it needs a really efficient battery system. Remarkably, Harley-Davidson is able to create a battery system that can take the Livewire to about 110 miles before requiring any recharge. Of course, this is just the estimate as the Livewire hasn’t been driven by real-world users in real-world conditions.
It already comes with a Level 1 charger so you can easily plug it in your ordinary electric outlet at home or even in the office. You can even check the battery charge status, security status, and even the bike’s location using Harley-Davidson’s app. A true gift for motorcycle riders.
With an aggressive stance that’s characteristic of Harleys, the Livewire promises to draw even more fans to its fold.
