To the untrained eye, the Dodge Demon might look like more modern American muscle in the form of an all-red Challenger with a bigger hood scoop. But under the hood it’s packing a 6.2-litre Hemi SRT Demon V8 that outputs 840 horsepower and 770 lb-ft of torque — the most powerful of any V8 in a production car, ever — and that, perhaps unsurprisingly, makes it the fastest (or faster accelerating, anyway) production car yet with a 0-60 time of 2.3 seconds and a quarter mile of 9.65. Every single bit of it works towards faster takeoffs: it comes stock with race-ready drag radial tires from Nitto, the option to ditch the passenger and rear seats if you need to cut its sprint times further, and even a customized suspension that, at launch, shifts more weight towards the back for popping wheelies when you slam it from a dead stop. At what price is the next logical question but so far that’s under wraps.
