Bugatti La Voiture Noire
From the Veyron to the Chiron and now the La Voiture Noire, Bugatti’s design history is nothing less than distinctive. The La Voiture Noire is Bugatti’s one-off offering to the world of eccentric car owners. The car features the technologies that you see in the Bugatti Chiron plus the unique styling of the 1930s Type 57 SC Atlantic. It’s a marriage of classic and modern, the Bugatti way.
The La Voiture Noire comes with a trim piece that resembles the dorsal fin of the 1930s Type 57 SC. This trim runs from the front of the new model to the rear spoiler. There’s also a floating windscreen plus masked A pillars. This 21st century Bugatti limited edition car also features unique wing mirrors and LED taillight strip.
This modern version of the 19th-century classic shares its powertrain with the 2016 Chiron. Unlike the front-engined design of the Type 57 SC, however, the La Voiture Noire comes with the Chiron’s mid-engine layout. The LVN boasts of an 8.0-liter W16 quadruple turbocharged engine. It’s capable of producing 1,479 horsepower.
Don’t expect the LVN to scorch the highways, though. Bugatti engineers revised the all-wheel-drive system and the 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox of the La Voiture Noire. The reason? They want the drive to be more relaxed than exhilarating. This is a tourer, after all, and not a race-spec roadster. Aiding in a more pleasant and relaxed ride are softer dampers. The chassis of the LVN was also revised to provide a more comfortable and luxurious ride.
With an elongated nose and rear section, this car lovers dream looks just like the classic Type 57 SC Atlantic. Its carbon fiber body shouts of Chiron DNA. It may have a dampened powertrain and gearbox, but this is all for your driving pleasure.
