Audio-Technica is bringing its famed acoustic excellence to the wireless headphone battleground with its ATH-CKR7TW that aims to provide wireless music listening experience to a whole new level. Small, neat, and well-crafted yet packed with the power to deliver sound performance like never before, this is a pair of earbuds that will have you fist-thumping your chest as you listen to the groove.
With an 11-mm acoustic driver delivering a frequency response of 5 to 45,000 Hz, this pair of dynamic earphones produces some of the planet’s clearest, most evocative mix of highs, bass, and mids to let you feel the rhythm coursing through your veins. It comes with an integrated microphone that works seamlessly with the Audio-Technica Connect app to help you control and manage calls on your smartphone.
It also comes with Bluetooth v5.0 supported by Qualcomm’s aptX audio codec, although it can easily pair with SBC and AAC protocols. The Bluetooth connectivity of the ATH-CKR7TW is seamless at 33 feet and can easily connect with Bluetooth profiles running on A2DP, HSP, HFP, and AVRCP platforms. That’s versatility in a small package.
Perhaps the only lament one can have with this Audio-Technica creation is its mediocre battery life. When not on its charging case, the ATH-CKR7TW only lasts a meager 6 hours when other systems have clearly broken the 12-hour barrier. Charging it is also quite long at 2 hours with some systems delivering a full charge within 60 to 90 minutes. The issue perhaps is in the brand’s use of USB-A instead of the now-standard USB-C interface.
Nevertheless, the ATH-CKR7TW Wireless Headphones can still rightfully make its claim as a great sound device. Whether it is listening to your favorite tunes or managing the calls on your smartphone, this nifty baby sure can do a good job.
