Alessi 9091 Melodic Whistle Kettle

Sure, electric boilers can get your water hot faster than a conventional kettle, but frankly we just don’t take any joy in using them. On the other hand, Alessi’s 9091 Kettle, designed by Richard Sapper decades ago is all whimsy. Sure, it’s heavy and takes a little longer to heat up, but it more than makes up for it with its iconic looks and oversized brass whistle that lets out a loud, harmonica-like two-toned melody (hear it here) when the water gets to boiling. Else, it’s made in Italty, holds over 2 quarts of water, and bears a price tag that’s not quite as pleasant as its melody.
