LG UltraFine 4K & 5K Displays

Out goes Apple’s aging Thunderbolt Display. But those hoping for a revisit to the five year old monitor have an alternative: the LG UltraFine 4K and 5K Displays. Designed by both LG and Apple, what these monitors lack in anodized aluminum they make up for in performance, with a 21- or 27-inch screen in 4K or 5K resolution, respectively (the latter with a ridiculous resolution of 5120×2880), P3 wide color gamut, and a height-adjustable stand. They’re also a hell lot more convenient than virtually any previous displays thanks to the inclusion of three USB-C ports and single Thunderbolt 3 port. This entails plugging in your laptop to use the screen as well as charge your computer, use the display’s on-board stereo speakers, camera, and mic, and daisy chain to additional peripherals — all through a single cable — essentially turning this into as much a dock as it is a display. Of course if your computer doesn’t have USB-C you’re out of luck for now, but its appeal is undeniable.
