Vaavud Sleipnir Wind Meter

The Vaavud Sleipnir is the second smartphone wind meter we’ve seen, the first being the Mjolnir by the same guys. But this upgrade is more than just aesthetic. Inspired by professional cup anemometers, the Sleipnir uses an asymmetrical rotor and a built-in sensor in its base to detect even the slightest variations in wind, making accurate readings at speeds ranging from 2 to 40 meters per second with a precision of +/- 4%. It also measures wind direction for the first time with identical accuracy, works with both iOS and Android devices by plugging into the audio jack, and is just as compact (if not more so) than its predecessor, slipping away discreetly into a pocket or pack.
